Opening a Door using a Web Relay

NoahFace can be used to open your doors, providing a frictionless entry experience. This can be achieved by wiring a web relay to your magnetic door lock, so that triggering the relay will release the magnetic lock.

NoahFace recommends using web relay devices from Control by Web. You should choose the specific model that meets your needs:

  • Ethernet or Wifi connectivity.
  • POE or 9-28VDC power.
  • Single or multiple relays.

Where possible, we recommend using Ethernet+POE for simplicity and reliability.

To configure a single relay device, you simply:

  • Connect the device to the network.
  • Assign it an IP address that the iPad running NoahFace can reach.
  • Test it is working by opening the URL from Safari on the iPad eg: http://192.168.1.2/state.xml?relayState=2
  • Configure the Access Point Type as follows (the pulseTime in the Path is the number of seconds to unlock the door for):

If you have multiple doors to setup, you can use either a single relay device for each door, or one multi-relay device containing sufficient relays to control all of your doors. To configure a multi-relay device, you simply:

  • Connect the device to the network.
  • Assign it an IP address that the iPad running NoahFace can reach.
  • Test it is working by opening the URL from Safari on the iPad eg: http://192.168.1.2/state.xml?digitalIO1=2
  • Configure the Access Point Type as follows (the pulseTime in the Path is the number of seconds to unlock the door for):

And then for each door, configure the Access Point as follows (the Identifier should be set to1 for relay 1, 2 for relay 2, etc, and is substituted into the Path):

If you have multiple doors and you want users to manually select which door to open, you should use the Task Tracking screen and set it up as follows (the number next to each task is the relay number):

You should then install a Web Relay device with multiple relays (devices are available with up to 16 relays) and:

  • Connect the device to the network.
  • Assign it an IP address that the iPad running NoahFace can reach.
  • Test it is working by opening the URL from Safari on the iPad eg: http://192.168.1.2/state.xml?digitalIO1=2
  • Configure the Access Point Type as follows (the pulseTime in the Path is the number of seconds to unlock the door for):

The NoahFace App will substitute the "[DETAIL]" in the Path with the relay number for the selected door.
