Identifying All Users Using Employee Numbers

This Tech Note explains how to configure NoahFace when you want all of your users to be identified by entering their employee number (or other user number, such as a member number) each time the clock in or out.

If you only want a small number of users to be identified by entering their employee numbers, while the majority of users are identified using facial recognition, see: Identifying Individual Users Using Employee Numbers instead.

Configuration

To enable employee number identification, just edit your "All Access" rule:

And set Identification Required to "Number":

All of the interactive features of NoahFace are available when using employee numbers for identification. For example you can:

  • Use any type of screen (eg: Clock In/Out, Task Tracking, Job Tracking, Compliance).
  • Collect data on clock in (eg: Projects, Customers, Work Types) or clock out (eg: Comments, Tips, Sentiment).
  • Use manual or no touch clocking.

Identification with Photos

By default, the NoahFace App requires users to present themselves at the kiosk. This will take their photo and activate the Identification (employee number entry) screen:

Identification without Photos

If you don't want photos to be taken, you should set Event Photos to "None" and turn off the No Touch Detection switch in the NoahFace App (under Settings / Facial Recognition):

The NoahFace App will then require users to touch the Home screen to activate the Identification (employee number entry) screen:

Variable Length Employee Numbers

If you have variable length numeric employee numbers that do not have unique prefixes (eg: 100, 1005, 10054), you can add the following option to the Screen Details in your Access Point Type:

       forceok=true

Users with short employee numbers will be required to press an OK button to submit their employee numbers.

Alternatively, you can force the use of the native iPadOS keyboard by specifying the following option to the Screen Details in your Access Point Type:

       forcekb=true

Non-Numeric Employee Numbers

If your employee numbers contain non-numeric characters (eg: A5001, A5002, B3007), NoahFace will automatically switch to using the native iPadOS keyboard.

If you prefer, you can strip out the non-numeric characters so that users only have to enter the numeric part of their employee number.

This will work, provided the numeric part of the employee numbers is unique.

To do this, add the following option to the Screen Details in your Access Point Type:

       stripnum=true
